Bison mark 100th basketball season
The Bethany (West Virginia) men's basketball program, fresh off clinching its third Presidents' Athletic Conference title in four years, will turn its attention this weekend to celebrating its 100th season of competition.
Except for a hiatus when competition was suspended after the school's gym burned down in 1915, the Bison have been playing basketball since 1906. It will commemorate its centennial season by taking the court against its oldest rival, Washington and Jefferson, during a two-day celebration February 22-23.
Events include a social event Friday night, games and activities before Saturday afternoon's game, pregame recognition of this year's senior players, and recognition of former coaches and team alumni during a halftime ceremony.
The weekend wraps up with a banquet featuring Bethany graduate and Seattle Mariners and ESPN broadcaster Dave Sims as a special guest speaker.
