Cal Lutheran will dedicate its new softball stadium today, named in honor of a Southern California foundation that provided $500,000 for the facility.

Hutton Field is the latest addition to the university’s North Campus athletics complex. The new venue replaces Gibello Field.

Cal Lutheran alumnus Tom Parker of the Hutton Foundation will join participants in the dedication ceremony and also will throw out the ceremonial first pitch for a softball team scrimmage. Parker and his wife, Susan, also an alumnus of the university, run the Hutton Foundation, a philanthropic organization started in 1984 at the request of Susan’s aunt, businesswoman Betty Hutton.

The Parkers also have made personal contributions to educational institutions and for projects throughout Southern California, including the basketball court at Cal Lutheran’s Mogen Hall, which bears their names.
