Joan Develin Coley, president at McDaniel since 2000 and a 35-year educator and administrator at the school, will chair the Centennial Conference’s Presidents Council during 2008-09.

Coley, the first president of the school to be promoted from the faculty ranks, was a recognized educator in the teaching of reading before moving into college administration.

Joining her on the conference’s executive committee this year are Presidents John Strassburger of Ursinus and Jane Dammen McAuliffe of Bryn Mawr.

Another president from the conference, John Fry of Franklin & Marshall, currently is serving as chair of the Division III Presidents Council.

In other administrative appointments, Wendy Smith, director of athletics at Haverford, will chair the conference’s administrative delegates, and Muhlenberg senior lacrosse student-athlete Andrew Lolley will chair the Centennial student-athlete advisory committee.
