The Great Northeast Athletic Conference hosted a dozen “Think Pink” games recently that included participation from all 14 conference institutions.

The conference raised $2,500 that will be donated primarily to the Kay Yow Fund, with a few other cancer research organizations receiving some of the proceeds.

GNAC institutions raised money and awareness in a variety of ways, including inviting breast cancer survivors to games, wearing pink shooting shirts, asking fans to wear pink, collecting gate proceeds and raffling off prizes.

The GNAC effort was conducted in conjunction with the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association’s Think Pink initiative that has raised more than $441,000 from more than 1,100 participating institutions. In addition, NCAA basketball officials have raised more than $25,000 from a similar initiative called “Call for the Cure.”
