The Monmouth (Illinois) men’s golf team took time between the end of its season and final exams to host a golf clinic for a local junior high golf program. The college’s golfers offered tips on everything from reading the greens to chipping to using the proper grip. “Many of our players have come up through the youth ranks in their hometowns, so they understand how difficult it can be to learn to play competitively at that age,” said coach Dave Ragone. “We’re planning on making this an annual event. The 17 members of the Monmouth team were able to work one-on-one with the youngsters, even playing a few holes together.

Members of the Wheaton (Massachusetts) men’s lacrosse team raised $1,800 during a recent game to benefit a nationwide fundraising effort for the family of a coach at another school whose infant son suffers from cerebral palsy. The team, which dedicated its April 26 game against Babson to the Coaches for Collin fundraiser, raised donations from fans and parents that were matched by Wheaton coach Mike McCaffrey. The effort benefits the family of Wesley coach Christian Zwickert, whose 19-month-old son Collin requires extensive in-home nursing and also needs expensive medications.
