The Big East Conference appointed Mark Hodgkin as director of Internet services and Andy Anderson as coordinator of video services. Hodgkin has worked in the marketing and media relations department at Boston College and was director of athletics marketing and promotions at Bryant from 2006-08. Anderson is a former studio manager for a resort. The Big East also announced several restructuring moves, promoting Nick Carparelli Jr. and Joe D’Antonio Jr. to senior associate commissioners, and naming Donna DeMarco as associate commissioner for administration and Benjamin Fairclough as senior director of external affairs. The duties of Associate Commissioner Dan Gavitt were expanded in men’s basketball.
Presidents and chancellors – Brooks A. Keel, vice chancellor for research and economic development and professor of biology at LSU, was named president at Georgia Southern. Keel replaces Bruce Grube, who has served since July 1999.
Directors of athletics – Bill Hayes, whose career in college sports spans 36 years, has been named the new athletics director at Winston-Salem State. He will begin his tenure there on January 1. Hayes is currently the athletics director at Florida A&M and was head football coach at Winston-Salem State for 12 seasons, during which the team won three Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association championships.
Softball – Jordan Stevens has been named the head softball coach at Union (New York). Stevens spent the past two seasons as an assistant at Rhode Island and has also served as an assistant at Niagara.
