2004 NCAA Division II Men's Golf Championships At-Large Selections Announced

INDIANAPOLIS---A total of 102 participants will compete in the 2004 NCAA Division II Men's Golf Championships.

The championships will be held May 12-15, at Victoria Hills Country Club, in DeLand, Florida, as part of the NCAA Division II Sports Festival. The sports festival is being hosted by the Central Florida Sports Commission, Sunshine State Conference and Rollins College.

The winner of each region from the super regionals received an automatic berth to the finals, as well as eight at-large selections. The top individual from each region not on an advancing team also was selected to compete along with two at-large individuals.

The teams and individuals selected for the 2004 championships are listed below:

Teams: Individuals: Northeast Region: Bryant Brent Silano, New Haven East Region: Charleston (West Virginia) Tim Fisher, Glenville State Atlantic Region: Barton Dion Sirrianni, Lees-McRae Southeast Region: South Carolina-Aiken Kris Shepherd, Kennesaw State Armstrong Atlantic State (at-large) GC&SU (at-large) Columbus State (at-large) South Region: West Florida Justin Bates, Ouachita Baptist North Alabama (at-large) Barry (at-large) South Central Region: Northeastern State Pierre Goethals, Abilene Christian Luke Antonelli, St. Mary's (Texas) (at-large) Central Region: Washburn Brice Garnett, Missouri Western State Great Lakes Region: Northern Kentucky Adam Miller, Saginaw Valley State West Region: Cal State Chico Nick Mason, Hawaii-Hilo Cal State Stanislaus (at-large) Shane Prante, St. Martin's (at-large) UC San Diego (at-large) Western Washington (at-large) Northwest Region: St. Cloud State Travis Morton, Colorado State-Pueblo 

Francis Marion University, in only its third appearance in the championships, won last year's title at Crosswater Golf Club in Sunriver, Oregon. Francis Marion captured the title with a 14-stroke win over Rollins College. Individually, Pfeiffer University's Andrew McArthur shot a 279 to earn medalist honors.
