INDIANAPOLIS---The NCAA Men's and Women's Rifle Committee announced today the team and individual qualifiers for the 2004 National Collegiate Men's and Women's Rifle Championships.
Murray State University will host the championships, which will be held March 12-13 in Murray, Kentucky.
A total of 48 competitors were selected for the championships. The top eight teams in both the smallbore three-position and air rifle events were selected. The top 24 individuals in air rifle and the top 14 individuals in smallbore qualified for the individual championships.

Individual competitions in smallbore three-position (120 shots) and air rifle (40 shots) will be held Friday, March 12. Team competitions in smallbore rifle three-position and air rifle will be held Saturday, March 13. The overall team champion will be determined by combining the smallbore and air rifle team totals into one aggregate score for each institution.
In the 2003 championships, the Nanooks of the University of Alaska Fairbanks captured their fifth consecutive team title and sixth overall at the National Collegiate Men's and Women's Rifle Championships. The Nanooks won the crown with an aggregate score of 6,287 out of a possible 6,400 in smallbore and air rifle combined. Xavier University finished second with 6,197 points, followed by Murray State University at 6,158.
