NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Committee Selects First- and Second-Round Sites for 2005 and 2006

NCAA DIVISION I WOMEN'S BASKETBALL COMMITTEE SELECTS FIRST- AND SECOND-ROUND SITES FOR 2005 AND 2006 

INDIANAPOLIS---The NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Committee has selected the first- and second-round sites for the 2005 and 2006 NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Championships.

The Administrative Committee of the NCAA Division I Championships/Competition Cabinet has approved the sites.

The first- and second-rounds for the 2005 and 2006 championships will be conducted at eight predetermined sites each year, which represents a format change from the 16 first- and second-round sites each year.


The following sites will host games Saturday, March 19, and Monday, March 21, 2005:

Site Host(s) Reunion Arena (17,767) University of Texas at Austin and Texas Dallas Tech University Save Mart Center (15,621) California State University, Fresno Fresno, California Williams Arena (14,625) University of Minnesota, Twin Citie Minneapoliss Bank of America Arena (9,394) University of Washington Seattle 

The following sites will host games Sunday, March 20, and Tuesday, March 22, 2005:

Smith Center (21,000) University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill Chapel Hill, North Carolina Comcast Center (17,950) University of Maryland, College Park College Park, Maryland Thompson-Boling Arena (25,000) University of Tennessee, Knoxville Knoxville, Tennessee Harry A. Gampel Pavilion (10,167) University of Connecticut Storrs, Connecticut 

The following sites will host games either Saturday, March 18, and Monday, March 20 or Sunday, March 19, and Tuesday, March 21, 2006:

The exact dates for the 2006 first- and second-round sites will be announced at a later date.
