BOSTON---The NCAA, in conjunction with Harvard University, Northeastern University and the Boston Local Organizing Committee, unveiled the 2006 NCAA Women’s Final Four logo this evening at the Massachusetts State House.

The 2006 Women’s Final Four logo features the patriotic theme of red, white and blue colors and stars with a depiction to Paul Revere’s lantern, a signature icon associated with the city of Boston and its connection to the history of the United States, in the foreground.

“Nothing compares to the excitement of an NCAA Final Four®, and it is a great opportunity for Boston and the Commonwealth to host the 2006 Women’s Final Four. We are grateful for the invaluable leadership of Paul Fireman and Stephen Pagliuca, as well as the support of our NCAA host institutions Harvard and Northeastern. We now look forward to working closely with our growing team of Community Partners whose financial support will be at the heart of making this event a great success.” Ron Petro, executive director.

The 2006 Women’s Final Four, which will be held April 2 and 4, at the FleetCenter, will mark the 25th Women’s Final Four and coincide with the centennial celebration of the NCAA. The FleetCenter will have a seating capacity of approximately 19,000. An estimated 5,000 of those seats will be allocated to the general public through the random computerized drawing administered by the NCAA national office.
