INDIANAPOLIS---The NCAA Division I and II National Student-Athlete Advisory Committees (SAAC) have appointed new leadership to chair their respective divisions.  Ian Gray, a cross country and men’s track student-athlete representing the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, will chair the Division I National SAAC, while John Semeraro, a golf student-athlete representing Saint Leo University, will lead the Division II National SAAC.  Andrew Baldwin, a tennis student-athlete representing Nazareth College, continues his role as Division III National SAAC chair.

The National SAACs are comprised of 75 NCAA student-athlete leaders who offer feedback to NCAA management councils and Association committees on legislation, rules and policies that affect student-athletes at the campus, conference and national levels.  SAAC is considered the "voice of the student-athlete" within the NCAA's governance structure.  

Gray, who represents the Big 12 Conference, will serve as Division I chair through January 2006, while Baldwin will chair Division III SAAC through September.  Division II does not have specified terms for chair appointments.  

The SAACs also named vice-chairs for the respective groups.  Michael Piscetelli, a track student-athlete at Wake Forest University who represents the Atlantic Coast Conference, will serve as vice-chair of the Division I SAAC.  Marian Broderick, a volleyball student-athlete at Missouri Western State College in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association, was named vice-chair of Division II SAAC.  Tanya Nesbitt, a track student-athlete at Smith College and a member of the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletics Conference, is the vice-chair of Division III SAAC.   

The Division I, II and III SAACs meet as a collective group and hold divisional meetings in July, November and January.  The summer meetings will be held July 14-17, 2005 in Anaheim, California.  The SAACs also will meet January 6-10, at the 2006 NCAA Convention in Indianapolis.  The site and dates for this year’s November meeting have not been determined.
