INDIANAPOLIS---The NCAA, through support from the Committee on Women's Athletics (CWA), will sponsor two sessions of the Women Coaches Academy, the first taking place this month on an NCAA university campus.

Emory University will host a Women Coaches Academy, June 9-13.  A total of 26 coaches will participate in the program.  

This is the third year that the NCAA has sponsored the Women Coaches Academy, which was created to enhance the skills and perspectives of women coaches, and to aid in the retention of women coaches in intercollegiate athletics.  The program will provide participants with direction to enhance their marketing, budgeting and management skills; provide an introduction to new coaching techniques and strategies to become more competitive; provide tips to enhance personal and professional leadership styles; provide effective ways to communicate and motivate; and provide career development techniques that can be used after completing the program.

The five-day academy is geared toward rookie head coaches; coaches ready to advance from an assistant to a head coaching position; coaches who are changing divisions; coaches who want to be on the cutting edge of development; and coaches who want to advance their professional skill level.  Coaches participating in the programs comprise all three NCAA Divisions (I, II, III).

The NCAA will sponsor a second session July 6-10, at the Inverness Conference Center in Denver.   Participants for the Denver academy will be named at a later date.
