INDIANAPOLIS---NCAA President Myles Brand today announced that Greg Shaheen has been promoted to Senior Vice President for Basketball and Business Strategies, effective immediately.

In this position, Shaheen will continue to oversee men's basketball, including the Division I Men’s Basketball Championship and the National Invitation Tournament.  Additionally, he will develop the strategic roadmap to leverage new business opportunities, including broad awareness across all 88 NCAA championships in three divisions.

"Greg has done a superb job expanding the business opportunities with our corporate champions and corporate partners, as well as our broadcast partners, related to men's basketball among others," said Myles Brand, NCAA President.  "We're really excited about the future and expanding opportunities across all of the NCAA's properties," he added.

"We're energized by the opportunities that are available as the popularity of the NCAA's assets continues to gain notice," commented Shaheen.  "In this highly competitive environment, we have more opportunities to expand the reach of mission and values of the NCAA and to do so across more platforms than ever before-- providing unique opportunities for of our student-athletes and our growing fan base," Shaheen added.

According to Tom Jernstedt, NCAA Executive Vice President, the NCAA corporate champions and partners are integral in promoting Association values.  "Greg's work with our corporate supporters has laid the foundation for us to be more focused and strategic, as we move forward seizing every opportunity to tell the student-athlete story," said Jernstedt.

"At the end of the day, our goal is to ensure the NCAA operates as efficiently as possible for the strategic benefit of our student-athletes through our membership," Shaheen said.
