INDIANAPOLIS --- The NCAA Division II Men�s Basketball Committee has announced the Division II Men�s Basketball 50th Anniversary All-Elite Eight Team, which includes the names of 10 former student-athletes and two coaches who elevated the style of play in the sport and set the tone for coaching excellence.
Named to the NCAA Division II 50th Anniversary All-Elite Eight Team are:

Elite Eight All-Tournament Team (1980, 1981, 1982); Elite Eight Most Outstanding Player (1981); only three-time Elite Eight All-Tournament Team honoree; holds the NCAA Division II Championships game record for most free throws made (13); Finished third in the NCAA Division II National Championships (1980); NCAA Division II National Champions (1981); NCAA Division II National Runner-up (1982)

Student-athletes who advanced to the NCAA Division II Elite Eight berth in men�s basketball were eligible for nomination to the 50th Anniversary Team. They also were named to the respective NCAA Division II All-Elite Eight teams during their collegiate careers. The first NCAA Division II Elite Eight berth was in 1957 when Wheaton College (Ill.) defeated Kentucky Wesleyan College, 89-65.
A committee comprised of NCAA Division II Men�s Basketball Committee members, NCAA staff and basketball administrators selected the 50th Anniversary Team. Several members of the 50th Anniversary Team have been invited to attend the NCAA Division II Elite Eight Men�s Basketball Championship, which will be held March 22, 23 and 25 in Springfield, Massachusetts.
"The 50th anniversary team is a great credit to the current status of DII men�s basketball; however, these individuals also have played a significant role in the game of basketball on a global level,� said Mike Hall, athletics director at the University of South Carolina Upstate and chair of the NCAA Division II Men�s Basketball Committee.
"We were very excited with the response on the voting for this special anniversary team. It has always been our goal as a basketball committee to make our DII basketball championship a memorable experience for our student-athletes. The announcement of this anniversary team, and playing our Elite Eight championships in Springfield, Massachusetts, home of the Naismith Hall of Fame, will undoubtedly create an everlasting experience for all DII student-athletes, coaches and fans. Congratulations to all of our honorees and their families. Their legacy to Division II and the game of basketball will aspire generations for years to come,� said Hall.
