INDIANAPOLIS---For the fourth consecutive year, all 88 National Collegiate Athletic Association® championships will receive television exposure, including 17 spring sports to be featured in a one-hour special.

"CBS Sports Presents Championships of the NCAA®" will air at 3:00 p.m. Eastern time/Noon Pacific time Saturday, July 1, on CBS Sports. Highlights and stories from baseball, golf, rowing, softball, tennis and outdoor track & field will be featured in the program. For the 2005-06 academic year, CBS Sports has featured 44 of the NCAA’s 88 championships in the three seasonal shows.

Some of the student-athlete stories to be featured in the program include:

  • Brendan Kincaid, a sophomore from Salisbury University (MD), qualified for the Division III Men’s Tennis Championships despite only having the use of one arm. He grew up as a multi-sport athlete and hasn't let his disability hold him back;
  • Kelly Richards of Edinboro College (PA), a top contender in the Steeplechase at the 2006 NCAA Division II Track and Field Championships, runs for her father, who was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma two years ago. She continues to raise money for cancer research in his honor;
  • Rollins College (FL) women’s golf team entered the national championships attempting to win its fourth straight Division II title while the team was comprised of five golfers from five different countries. The four-peat had never been accomplished;
  • Methodist College (NC) looked to extend its dynasty in NCAA Division III Women’s Golf as the Monarchs placed all five of golfers in the top eight overall en route to a ninth consecutive team title; and
  • Josh Perkins, a 26-year old pitcher from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point who returned to the mound after serving two years in Iraq. He and his team qualified for this year's Division III Baseball Championship (final eight teams), where they arrived with a lot of talent and a different perspective on life

Through the NCAA-CBS 11-year bundled rights agreement, CBS Sports has aired 11 seasonal shows from the three NCAA sports seasons (fall, winter, spring) over the last four years. This Saturday’s show is the 12th edition. The seasonal shows typically feature highlights and unique NCAA student-athlete stories from the Division II and III championships.

CBS Sports’ Seth Davis will make his debut as the host of “CBS Sports Presents Championships of the NCAA.” Davis hosts this spring’s show just outside of New York City. He has served as contributor for CBS Sports' coverage of the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Championship for the past three years. Davis joined CBS Sports in 2003 as a contributor for AT THE HALF, the network's college basketball halftime show.

CBS Sports’ Ken Mack, is the producer of the show. Mack also serves as a producer for CBS Sports’ coverage of the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Championship, NCAA Division II Men’s Basketball National Championship Game, National Football League (NFL) and has produced U.S. OPEN LATE NIGHT SHOW among several other broadcasts on the network.
