INDIANAPOLIS---The NCAA Division I Women’s Soccer Committee has selected Texas A&M University, College Station, to host the 2007 Women’s College Cup.

Scheduled for December 7 and 9, 2007, this marks the second time Texas A&M University will host the Women’s College Cup. In 2005, they hosted the Women’s College Cup when the University of Portland captured the title with a 4-0 final victory against UCLA.

“We are thrilled that Texas A&M will host the 2007 Women's College Cup,” said Paul Schlickmann, chair of the Division I Women’s Soccer committee, executive associate director of athletics at Stony Brook University.  “They did an exceptional job managing this event in 2005 and earned the right to serve as a repeat host. Texas A&M has a first rate soccer venue, terrific fan support in the community, and an excellent staff that takes a vested interest in running a first class event. The Women's Soccer Committee is excited about returning to College Station and confident that the 2007 College Cup will be a complete success."

“We are pleased to have the opportunity to again host the Women’s College Cup in 2007,” said Bill Byrne, director of athletics at Texas A&M.  “We have had great experiences hosting NCAA championships with men’s tennis and the Women’s College Cup in 2005 and look to repeat that success next year. The local community has done an outstanding job of supporting Aggie Athletics and the NCAA competitions we have hosted. Hosting the 2007 College Cup and the 2009 Indoor Track and Field Championships helps achieve our mission of building champions. ”

The 2006 championship will be held December 1 and 3 at the SAS Soccer Park in Cary, North Carolina.  North Carolina State University, the city of Cary, and the Capital Area Soccer League will serve as hosts.
