(OMAHA, Neb. – May 22, 2007) –Youth can experience the excitement of championship baseball for FREE at the NCAA® Division I Men’s College World Series® Youth Education through Sports (YES) Clinic Fueled by POWERade® taking place June 15 and 16 at the Creighton Sports Complex in Omaha.  Openings to the clinics are still available, according to Jason Shockey, Creighton assistant baseball coach and YES Clinics On-Site Coordinator.

“The YES Clinic is an excellent opportunity for girls and boys ages 10 to 16 to receive great baseball instruction, conditioning and life skills from some of the best coaches in the game,” Shockey said.  “Selections are made on a first-come, first-serve basis, so early registration is strongly recommended.”

Part of the NCAA’s premier outreach to youth across the country, the YES Clinics allow participants to connect with other young athletes while receiving baseball instruction from collegiate coaches and student athletes, who will be announced in the near future on CWSomaha.com.

The June 15 check-in will be held between 9 and 9:30 a.m., followed by the clinic from 9:35 a.m. to 12:35 p.m.  The June 16 check-in will be from 8 to 8:30 a.m., followed by the clinic from 8:35 a.m. to 11:35 a.m.  Downloadable application forms and clinic brochures are available at http://www.cwsomaha.com/html/News/index.asp?cmd=103.  All applications must be signed by a parent or guardian to be eligible for selection in the program. Confirmation letters will follow upon acceptance.  Participants are asked to bring indoor and outdoor footwear to their clinic session. A glove is optional.

Since its inception in 1985, the NCAA’s YES program has reached an unprecedented level of popularity.  Each year, YES clinics, held at selected NCAA championships serve nearly 10,000 youth ages 10 to 16 who engage in fun and challenging sports-skill, life skill and conditioning sessions conducted by top collegiate coaches and student-athletes. YES is another way these coaches and student-athletes share the NCAA’s commitment to challenging young people to strive for higher levels of achievement in both athletics and academics.
