NCAA Announces Partnership With Golfweek Providing In-Depth Coverage Of The NCAA Division I Men's And Women's Golf Championships

ORLANDO�- The NCAA announced today a strategic partnership with Golfweek magazine, to provide in-depth multi-media coverage of the NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Golf Championships. Exclusive video content will be made available through NCAAsports.com and GolfweekTV.

"This opportunity provides the NCAA with an additional vehicle that enhances the daily coverage of both the Division I men's and women's golf championships and places emphasis on the student-athletes who are competing for national titles", said Greg Weitekamp, NCAA director of broadcasting. "Our partnership with Golfweek will allow us to use new media to provide more in-depth and timely coverage of both championships."

"Given Golfweek's long history of covering college golf, this kind of partnership with the NCAA is a win-win for both parties," said Jay Coffin, Golfweek's editor of digital media/video. "The expertise of our editorial staff will greatly enhance the depth of championship coverage at Daytona Beach and Williamsburg. We're eager to help the NCAA give college golfthe broader exposure it deserves."

Golfweek�s multi-media coverage of the NCAA Championships will be available in print, online and video and will include:
  • Daily Recap: Available following each of the four rounds online as an article and video. The recap will feature student-athlete and coach reactions, plus video from the day�s action.
  • Live online scoring: Golfweek, through a partnership with Golfstat.com, will provide live scoring online.
  • Live video streaming: The NCAA and Golfweek will partner to provide three cameras positioned on the 18th hole at both the men�s and women�s championships for the third and fourth rounds and will provide play-by-play commentary, using GolfweekTV's Asher Wildman as lead announcer.
  • Exclusive interviews: Golfweek writers will sit down with student-athletes and coaches for one-on-one interviews on video.
  • Off Campus with Lance Ringler: Ringler, one of the nation�s authorities on college golf, will post his daily �video blog.�He will put coaches �On the Spot,� taking a critical look at the day�s results and giving viewers his opinion on the event.
  • Daily feature/human interest-story: Golfweek will identify the feature of the day, outstanding performances, humorous anecdotes and inspirational stories. These will be available as videos and as articles.
  • Golfweek magazine: The cover issues dated May 19, May 26, June 2 and June 9 will feature extensive coverage of the Men�s and Women�s NCAA Regionals and Championships.


All Golfweek's NCAA Championship coverage will be accessible by visiting NCAAsports.com or Golfweek.com. The NCAA Division I Women�s GolfChampionship is May 22-25 at LPGA International in Daytona Beach, Fla., and the NCAA Division I Men�s Golf Championship will be May 30-June 2 at Golden Horseshoe Golf Club in Williamsburg, Virginia.
