INDIANAPOLIS---The NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Championship staff is adding two new members, with Jacqueline Campbell serving as a director and Deneé Barracato  joining as an associate director.

“To add the strong experience and expertise of Jackie and Deneé to our staff is an exciting day for the women’s championship,” said Sue Donohoe, NCAA vice president for Division I Women’s Basketball.  “Both have experienced first-hand what it means to be a student-athlete and administrator and have excelled at both.  Their background, talent and commitment to the game of women’s basketball will make them key contributors in the future growth of our championship.”

A veteran of more than 20 years in sports administration and compliance, Campbell comes to the NCAA from the associate commissioner’s position at the Atlantic 10 Conference, where she has been since 2004.  She had prior campus experience at the University of Maryland as associate director of athletics for compliance, the University of Connecticut as associate director of athletics for student services, and at the University of Pittsburgh as administrative assistant to the director of athletics.

She formerly served with the NCAA from 1991 to 1997, serving as assistant chief of staff for Division I and as a legislative assistant.  She also had a prior stint with the Atlantic 10 Conference as assistant commissioner for compliance from 1997 to 2002.

Campbell holds a master of science  in sport management from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and a bachelor of science  in commerce (marketing) from the University of Virginia.  A former collegiate student-athlete, she lettered for the Virginia field hockey team for four years and the women’s basketball team for three.  A native of New Jersey, she was inducted into the South Jersey Basketball Hall of Fame in 2001.

Campbell has had numerous professional affiliations during her career and has served as a member of the NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Committee; NCAA Division I Legislative Council; NCAA Division I Management Council; NCAA Division I Academics/Eligibility/Compliance Cabinet; NCAA Division I Women’s Soccer Committee; NCAA Division I Satisfactory-Progress Waivers Committee; National Association of Collegiate Women Athletic Administrators; and the Board of Directors of the Black Coaches and Administrators, Inc.

Barracato comes to the NCAA from Adelphi University in Garden City, N.Y., where she has worked as assistant director of athletics and senior woman administrator since August 2006.  At Adelphi, she helped manage the athletic budget for scholarships while serving as a sports supervisor, compliance officer, student-athlete academic progress monitor, events manager and coordinator of the Champs/Life Skills program.  Prior to her promotion to assistant director of athletics, Barracato was the event manager and special project coordinator for Adelphi from 2003 to 2006.

She came to Adelphi from Winthrop University Hospital in Mineola, N.Y., where she worked in 2002-03 as a public relations representative and community educator.  She has served as an adjunct professor and instructor at both Adelphi and St. John’s University.

Barracato holds a master of arts  in sports management and physical education from Adelphi, and a bachelor of arts  in liberal arts and graphic design from Hofstra University.  A former collegiate student-athlete, she lettered for the Hofstra basketball team for four years and was a third team America East all-conference selection in 1999.  Following graduation from Hofstra, she played in the Women’s Professional League in Puerto Rico through 2001, and was a member of the Atlanta Justice of The National Women’s Basketball League (NWBL) in 2001-02.
