INDIANAPOLIS --- Brian Gordon, a respected member of the swimming and diving community, has been named the NCAA’s next secretary-rules editor. Gordon will officially replace long-time rules editor Sue Petersen Lubow when her term expires in September 2009.
“I am pleased to be passing the baton to Brian Gordon,” said Lubow, secretary-rules editor and director of athletics at the United States Merchant Marine Academy. “His passion, superb organizational skills, media background, and competitive swimming and coaching experiences provide him with all the tools necessary to do a fabulous job as Secretary-Rules Editor. I look forward to working with him this next year to ease the transition and feel confident that NCAA Swimming and Diving will be in great hands.”
Gordon graduated from Rider University with a degree in Journalism in 1979 and has been involved in the sport as a student-athlete, coach, official, and administrator for more than 30 years. He is a renowned meet announcer, has served as a member of the NCAA Division I championship meet staff, and is currently the Senior Associate Athletic Director at The College of Saint Rose in Albany, NY.
“As someone who has spent the last 30 years as a competitor, coach, official and administrator involved with NCAA Swimming and Diving, I’m pleased and honored to be asked to serve in this prestigious role,” said Gordon. “I enthusiastically look forward to working with the various constituencies of collegiate swimming and diving to continue advancing our sport.”
