Division I Men's College Cup 50th Anniversary Team Voting Begins Monday on NCAA.com

INDIANAPOLIS --- The NCAA Men’s College Cup will celebrate its 50th anniversary this fall and the NCAA has announced the 32 student-athletes and six coaches that will make up the voting ballot, which will be hosted on NCAA.com.  Fans will have the chance to select the 11 best student-athletes and one coach throughout the last 50 years of the championship.

Voting for the NCAA Division I Men’s Soccer 50th Anniversary team begins Monday, October 6 and will run until noon on Wednesday, October 15. Fans will only be able to submit one vote.

The student-athlete nominees are: Jeff Agoos, Virginia; Amr Aly, Columbia; Armando Betancourt, Indiana; Paul Caligiuri, UCLA; Richard Chinapoo, Long Island; Dan Counce, Saint Louis; Angelo DiBernardo, Indiana; Mike Fisher, Virginia; Brad Friedel, UCLA; Chris Gbandi, Connecticut; John Harkes, Virginia; Thomas Kain, Duke; John Kerr, Duke; Michael King, Fairleigh Dickinson; Dema Kovalenko, Indiana; Jason Kreis, Duke; Alexi Lalas, Rutgers; Brian Maisonneuve, Indiana; Pat McBride, Saint Louis; Tony Meola, Virginia; Joe Morrone, Connecticut; Bruce Murray, Clemson; Glenn Mynernick, Hartwick; Pat Noonan, Indiana; Barry Nix, Columbia; Fred Pereira, Brown; Farrukh Quraishi, SUNY Oneonta; Claudio Reyna, Virginia; Ken Snow, Indiana; Jim Stamatis, Penn State; Al Trost, Saint Louis; and Roy Wegerle, South Florida.

The coach nominees are: Bruce Arena, Virginia; Robert Guelker, Saint Louis/SIUE; Harry Keough, Saint Louis; Steve Negoesco, San Francisco; Sigi Schmid, UCLA; Jerry Yeagley, Indiana.

Members selected to the anniversary team will be honored at the 2008 NCAA Men’s College Cup in Frisco, Texas at Pizza Hut Park on December 12-14.
