INDIANAPOLIS--- The upcoming tribute for former NCAA President Myles Brand will chronicle his many achievements and provide a revealing look at the important segments of his life and his professional career in higher education.

From his early days growing up in New York to his career as a faculty member, campus administrator, university president and ultimately chief executive of the NCAA, Brand’s life will be remembered for his legacy of leadership during the Oct. 28 event in Indianapolis.

The tribute is presented by the NCAA, in conjunction with Indiana University.

“We look forward to honoring and celebrating a special colleague and friend,” said NCAA Interim President Jim Isch. “We will remember and reflect on Myles’ deep commitment to higher education and athletics, his love of family and friends, and his sense of adventure. This evening will serve as a fitting tribute of his life and his legacy.”

Jim Nantz, CBS Sports’ lead play-by-play announcer for college basketball and the Division I Men’s Basketball Championship, will serve as host for the tribute event.

Joining Nantz will be numerous in-person speakers and others by video tribute. Artistic performances will include a poetry reading and live music. The full list of speakers and performers is below.

“Myles was a transformative leader and visionary president at Indiana University,” said IU President Michael A. McRobbie.  “We are honored to pay tribute to his life and his extraordinary accomplishments in both the academic world and at the NCAA.”

The 90-minute tribute is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. Eastern on Oct. 28 at Conseco Fieldhouse. Friends, family and colleagues of Brand have been invited to attend, and a limited number of seats will be made available to the public. Requests for those seats can be submitted up to 5 p.m. Eastern on Monday, Oct. 26, through the NCAA website at www.ncaa.org.

All attendees will be invited to a reception immediately following the tribute, co-hosted by IU and the NCAA, in the Clarian Health Entry Pavilion at Conseco Fieldhouse.

The tribute will be broadcast live nationally on the CBS College Sports Network.
