INDIANAPOLIS--- The NCAA Hall of Champions will ring in the holiday season by offering visitors free admission on Friday, December 18 in conjunction with the Indiana Convention and Visitors Bureau’s 12 Free Days of Indy Christmas promotion.

Open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., the recently renovated facility highlights the academic and athletic experiences of NCAA student-athletes.    There are relevant artifacts, memorabilia, photos, video and interactive features showcasing the NCAA’s 23 sports and 88 championships.    Visitors can also journey through the Hall of Honor, which celebrates the academic and athletic achievements of former NCAA student-athletes who have earned prestigious honors.   There is also a video presentation featuring former, current and prospective NCAA student-athletes, that includes comments from former NCAA student-athlete and tennis legend Billie Jean King.

The second floor features hands-on interactive exhibits where visitors can witness the speed of a tennis ball serve, see a rowing skull, test their knowledge of sports equipment or experience a downhill ski simulator.   There is also an area where visitors can test their physical skills with various sport simulators and their officiating skills with the “You Make the Call” display.

Additionally, fans can see a historic gymnasium, learn the geographical location of each NCAA Division I, II and III college or university by map, watch NCAA championship footage on television monitors and visit the NCAA gift shop area to purchase souvenirs or holiday gifts.

A local high school choir will perform during the day and light refreshments will be served to visitors.  The Hall of Champions will resume regular admission and hours on December 19.   For more information on the NCAA Hall of Champions, visit www.ncaahallofchampions.org.
