The NCAA Eligibility Center has changed Mr Renardo Sidney’s status from Not Certified due to Non-Response (NCNR) to Under Review. This change allows the Eligibility Center staff to restart the process of determining whether Sidney meets NCAA requirements for initial eligibility.  Sidney was placed in NCNR status while the Eligibility Center awaited receipt of specific documentation that was first requested from the Sidney family in April.  There have been two additional requests for the same information since then. Some, but not all, of that information has now been received.  Receipt of the documents is just one of several steps necessary for making a certification decision.  All initial eligibility certification decisions are based upon NCAA amateurism guidelines as established by the membership. Although there is no timeline for the Sidney certification decision to be made and all requested documentation has not been received, the EC's goal is to arrive at a decision as quickly as possible.  The EC annually completes approximately 80,000 amateurism certifications with less than one percent of those incurring some type of eligibility penalty.
