Two NCAA Events Win 2010 "SportsTravel" Awards

INDIANAPOLIS---Two NCAA championship events captured SportsTravel Awards at the TEAMS 2010 Conference and Expo, held in Charlotte, N.C.

The 2010 NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Championship won the award for Best Single-Sport Event, while the 2010 NCAA Men’s College World Series won the award for Best Sports Event or Circuit.

“The 2010 Division I Men’s Basketball Championship and Men’s College World Series being honored with SportsTravel Awards is a testament to the remarkable storylines written through the performance of our student-athletes on and off the playing fields. All credit goes to the hard working committees, volunteers and hosts that create the championship atmosphere,” said Greg Shaheen, NCAA interim executive vice president of championships and alliances. “The student-athlete and fan experience is of the utmost importance to us, and it is rewarding to see the work of so many being recognized for these endeavors.”

Nine NCAA championships in all were nominated for awards in the collegiate categories that included Best Single-Sport Event, Best Multi-Sport or Multi-Discipline Event and Best Sports Event Series or Circuit. These championships included:
