Thought Equity Motion’s Advanced Technology Platform Increases the Value of the NCAA’s Content

DENVER, October 20, 2010---The NCAA and Thought Equity Motion, Inc., a leading provider of video platform and rights development services, announced today a multi-year contract extension, in which Thought Equity Motion will continue to serve as the licensor for archival NCAA video content. Additionally, the NCAA will utilize Thought Equity Motion’s Platform Services to support advanced video applications, including rich metadata, broadband delivery, and increased accessibility for NCAA member institutions and fans.

“Since 2005, Thought Equity Motion has increased the value of our content by successfully preserving and making accessible the rich history of NCAA championships,” said Greg Shaheen, NCAA interim executive vice president for championships and business strategy. “Over the course of our relationship, Thought Equity Motion’s rights development and licensing services have developed new value in opportunities such as the NCAA Vault (available on NCAA.com).  Additionally, the company’s platform technology has made our historic footage of NCAA championship events across 23 college sports more accessible to fans, broadcasters, producers, and publishers.”

Under the new agreement, Thought Equity Motion will expand its role in providing the NCAA with rights development and technology Platform Services.  Building on the successful first phase of rights development for the NCAA, Thought Equity Motion will be working to further grow the value of the NCAA’s archival rights and support the development of other rights windows for the NCAA and its partners.  The company also will add new Media Services around content capture and archive feeds to optimize the NCAA’s content for next-generation usability.

Additionally, Thought Equity Motion will expand the scope of the NCAA Vault—a first-of-its-kind video publishing model that at launch in March 2010 included NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Championship games from the past decade. The expansion over the course of the contract will include the addition of more Division I Men’s Basketball championship games and other NCAA championship events (such as Division I Women’s Basketball, Division I Baseball and Division I Wrestling), enhanced social media functionality, and increased metadata.

“Over the last five years, we’ve built value for the NCAA with our digitization, preservation and licensing services. With this new agreement, we’re embarking on a multi-year deal with the goal of growing non-live rights,” stated Kevin Schaff, CEO and Founder of Thought Equity Motion. “We are also excited to continue to apply our advanced Platform Services technology to the NCAA collection to deepen live event engagement and the fan experience.”
