INDIANAPOLIS--- NCAA On Campus, a documentary program that features stories of NCAA student-athletes, has been named a winner of the 2009 Aegis Award. The Aegis Awards are the video industry’s premier competition for peer recognition of outstanding video productions and non-network TV commercials.

Developed by the NCAA eight years ago and currently produced for the NCAA and CBS by Indianapolis-based DL Images, NCAA On Campus travels to NCAA member institutions in all three divisions for each episode to profile student-athletes competing in the NCAA’s 23 sports.

NCAA On Campus provides a tremendous platform for the NCAA to tell the stories of student-athletes who are balancing academics, athletics and community service,” said Frank Rhodes, NCAA associate director of broadcasting and executive producer of NCAA On Campus. “Our goal is to bring exposure to those student-athletes that are excelling both on and off the court and field.”

Stories from the 2009 season featured a Division II softball student-athlete from West Liberty University, in West Liberty, W. Va., who donated a kidney to someone she did not know; a Division I swimming student-athlete from Loyola University in Baltimore, Md., who is blind; a brother and sister who coach the men’s and women’s basketball teams at Division II Cheyney University of Pennsylvania; and a profile on Stephen Strasburg, the baseball student-athlete from San Diego State University, who ended up being the number one selection in the 2009 Major League Baseball amateur draft.

“It is a wonderful experience to profile these incredible individuals who you rarely have the opportunity to hear about,” said Lee Nassau, producer at DL Images. “Each and every month, I’m amazed at how much these student-athletes have accomplished at such a young age.”

NCAA On Campus is broadcast each Monday evening at 8:30 p.m. Eastern on CBS College Sports Network. In the past year, NCAA On Campus has also been honored with a Telly Award and a Communicator Award.

Founded in 1982, DL Images produces corporate videos, documentaries, and TV commercials.
