INDIANAPOLIS--- The NCAA Division II Men’s Soccer Committee has reprimanded Sonoma State University head men’s soccer coach Marcus Ziemer for misconduct during the 2010 NCAA Division II Men’s Soccer Championship.

Specifically, Ziemer displayed unsportsmanlike behavior toward a game official and returned to the playing field postgame to confront the official after having been previously ejected. As a result of this public reprimand, Sonoma State University also must reimburse the NCAA for the per diem related to Ziemer, equating to an aggregate $160 financial penalty.

“The committee holds coaches to a high standard in regard to their behavior, and the unprofessionalism that was displayed will not be tolerated during the NCAA Championship,” said Greg Gilbert, acting chair of the Division II Men’s Soccer Committee and assistant director of athletics at the University of Findlay.
